The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is gearing up to reveal their nominees for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, and it looks to be almost as star-studded as the actual event. Hosted by Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, and comedian Aziz Ansari, the ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 12 at 8 a.m. ET on NBC.
Aside from serving as our must-see-movie guide for the next couple of months, the nominations, alongside the Screen Actors Guild’s December 11 announcements, mark the start of movie awards season — the real most wonderful time of the year. Shortly after, the Critics’ Choice Awards noms are released and then it’s all red carpets all the time until March.
But the Golden Globes aren’t just for movie buffs! They also grant awards for small screen achievements. Last year saw big wins for cable, with virtually all major awards going to Showtime’s Homeland and House of Lies and HBO’s Girls and Game Change.
An organization comprised of about 90 international journalists who cover U.S. entertainment news, The HFPA will cast its final votes on January 8, 2014. The actual awards ceremony, hosted by comedy geniuses Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, airs live on NBC on Sunday, January 12, 2014. Considering what a splash they made as last year’s Golden Globes emcees, it should make for an awesome edition of the notoriously boozy awards ceremony.
