The U.S. Mint has introduced the “American Women Quarters Program,” that will feature famous women on the reverse side of the coin.

George Washington will remain on the coin’s front which will have a new design.

The first two coins in the series will feature poet Maya Angelou and astronaut Sally Ride and will circulate starting in January 2022.

The remainder of the series has not been set, so the National Women’s History Museum is soliciting suggestions that will be given to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who will make the final decision, CNN reported.

There are rules for who can be nominated. The main one being that the woman must be deceased.

Ride died in 2012 at the age of 61. Angelou died in 2014 at the age of 86, The New York Times reported.

The Mint is requesting that women nominated are known for civil rights, the arts and abolition. They also should have “ethnically, racially and geographically diverse backgrounds.”

The program will run through 2025 and will have up to five designs, CNN reported.
