LOS ANGELES — King’s Hawaiian is voluntarily recalling three products after a recall by one of its suppliers of an ingredient used in its pretzel products.
According to the recall notice, issued in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Lyons Magnus is recalling this ingredient due to the potential for it to cause microbial contamination, including from the organisms Cronobacter sakazakii and Clostridium botulinum.
Los Angeles-based King’s Hawaiian confirmed that no illnesses have been linked with the Lyons Magnus recall, but stated that its Pretzel Slider Buns, Pretzel Hamburger Buns and Pretzel Bites products are being voluntarily recalled out of an abundance of caution.
The company also confirmed that no pathogens have been detected in any King’s Hawaiian’s products to date.
In addition, King’s Hawaiian stated it will “resume producing all pretzel products once the company has ensured all current product has been disposed of and has confirmed the safety of all ingredients.”
Consumers are advised to immediately dispose of any products affected by the voluntary recall. Consumers may also contact King’s Hawaiian directly by calling 877-695-4227, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT.
