Starr initially canceled Sunday’s concert in Minnesota due to illness, specifically noting he did not have COVID-19. On Monday, a spokesperson confirmed to the BBC that “Ringo has COVID-19 and the tour will be on hold.”

A spokesperson for Starr told Variety that the musician is recovering at home and “hopes to resume as soon as possible.”

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr postponed his scheduled Sunday concert date in Minnesota due to illness, the concert venue said.

Starr, 82, was scheduled to play with his All-Starr Band at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, the Star Tribune of Minneapolis reported.

The casino made the announcement on its website late Saturday, adding that the musician does not have COVID-19.

“Ringo is sick and was hoping to be able to perform, hence the late notice, but it has affected his voice,” Mystic said on its website. “He and the band send peace and love to all the fans who were planning to come out and see the show. A rescheduled date will be announced in the future.”

The exact nature of Starr’s illness has not been revealed.

While the casino website announced the postponement, there is no mention of it on Starr’s website or social media accounts, the Star Tribune reported.

According to TMZ, Starr also canceled his scheduled concert date Saturday night at the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan.

Starr’s publicist could not be reached for comment, the Star Tribune reported.

In June, Starr postponed concerts on his current tour because two members of His All-Starr Band had COVID.

Starr is traveling with the 15th incarnation of his All-Starr Band since it was formed in 1989, the newspaper reported. Current members include Edgar Winter, Toto’s Steve Lukather, Men at Work’s Colin Hay and the Average White Band’s Hamish Stuart.

Starr, who was born Richard Starkey in Liverpool, England, on July 7, 1940, achieved stardom as a member of The Beatles, who took England by storm in 1963 and followed it up by spearheading the “British Invasion” to the United States in 1964.
