Be honest… have you ever been hanging out with someone, and suddenly you’re just scrolling your phone while they’re talking? 👀
Yeah… there’s a name for that.
It’s called “phubbing”—aka phone + snubbing—and it’s going viral again because, well… we’re all kinda guilty of it 😅
📱 What is “phubbing”?
Phubbing is when you ignore the person you’re with by focusing on your phone instead.
And the worst part? You might not even realize you’re doing it.
(Or… you were just doing it while reading this. No judgment 😂)
😬 Why it’s a problem
Even just having your phone sitting on the table can make the other person feel like they’re competing for your attention.
And yeah… nobody likes that feeling.
👍 How to stop being a phubber
1. Put your phone out of sight 📵Not just face down—actually put it away. Out of sight = out of mind.
2. Start small ⏱️Try no-phone rules during meals 🍽️ or for certain hours of the day.
3. Be real about it 💬If you have to check something, just say it. It’s way better than silently scrolling mid-convo.
4. Pay attention to how it feels 😶Next time someone does it to you… notice how annoying it is. That’s exactly what you’re doing when you phub someone else 😬
🧠 The bottom line
Your notifications, texts, and memes will still be there later.
But the person sitting right in front of you? They deserve your attention now ❤️
So maybe… put the phone down for a bit. Just a thought 😉📱
