๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŽ‰ ITโ€™S NATIONAL TACO DAY! And Apparently 2% of Americans Need to Get Their Life Together

HAPPY NATIONAL TACO DAY! ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŽ‰ And somehow, the calendar has blessed us with the perfect combination: National Taco Day AND Taco Tuesday. This is what dreams are made of. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And hereโ€™s the craziest statistic of the day:

Only 2% of Americans say theyโ€™ve NEVER eaten a taco.

TWO PERCENT.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸŒฎ

Weโ€™re not talking about some exotic food here. Itโ€™s a taco! You can get one at a gas station, a drive-thru, a food truck, a fancy restaurantโ€ฆ there are tacos EVERYWHERE.

Meanwhile, 90% of American adults say they like eating tacos, and about 83% say they eat Mexican food at least once a month. 17% eat it every single week. ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ”ฅ

And apparently weโ€™re also pretty divided on how our tacos should be built.

๐ŸŒฎ 53% prefer soft shells

๐ŸŒฎ 47% prefer hard shells

So the soft-shell people have a slight edge, but this is America. The hard-shell people arenโ€™t going down without a fight. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Weโ€™re also apparently a nation of taco people rather than burrito people, because 71% say they prefer tacos over burritos.

And hereโ€™s where it gets weirdly specific.

The average hard-taco fan eats about 7.3 tacos a month and is more likely to enjoy spicy food, be a dog person, and consider themselves an extrovert. ๐Ÿถ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Soft-taco fans eat about 6.9 tacos a month and are more likely to be cat people, night owls, and in relationships. ๐Ÿฑ๐ŸŒ™โค๏ธ

So apparently your taco shell says A LOT about you. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And if you really want to compete, move to Arizona.

10% of Arizona residents surveyed say they eat SIX OR MORE TACOS IN ONE MEAL. ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŒฎ

Thatโ€™s not dinner.

Thatโ€™s a cry for help. ๐Ÿ˜‚

As for toppings, cheese absolutely dominates. 47 out of 50 states picked cheese as their favorite taco topping. ๐Ÿง€๐ŸŒฎ

And Americaโ€™s least favorite favorite topping?

Onions.

Only 3% picked onions as their #1.

And when people were asked what topping could actually RUIN a taco, cilantro came out on top, followed by black olives.

So basically, if you show up to my house with a taco covered in cilantro and black olivesโ€ฆ

weโ€™re gonna have a conversation. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And of course, restaurants are getting in on National Taco Day with plenty of deals and freebies. ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ’ฐ

At Chuyโ€™s, you can get a free entrรฉe if youโ€™re willing to dress up like a taco and post a picture on social media. ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ“ธ

Honestly, thatโ€™s a pretty good trade.

And Taco Bell and Duolingo are teaming up for a limited-edition habanero sauce, with free packets available with Doritos Locos Tacos. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒฎ

So today, go get yourself some tacos.

Try a hard shell. Try a soft shell. Load it with cheese.

Just pleaseโ€ฆ

donโ€™t be one of the 2%. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒฎ
