🎁♻️ National Regifting Day Is Here — And Most Americans Are Totally Cool With It

If you’ve still got that scarf, candle, or random kitchen gadget sitting untouched from last Christmas… today is your moment. 🙌 It’s National Regifting Day, a day dedicated to passing along gifts you don’t really want to someone who might.

The idea of regifting really took off thanks to Seinfeld back in 1995. 📺 Remember when Elaine gave Tim Whatley a label maker… only to catch him regifting it to Jerry? Awkward. And at the time, VERY offensive.

But times have changed.

A new poll found 61% of Americans now say regifting is at least “somewhat” acceptable — including 22% who say it’s completely fine. In 2025, the vibe seems to be: If you don’t want it, don’t waste it. 🤷‍♂️🎄

Interestingly, regifting is actually seen as slightly less acceptable than giving used gifts. About 64% say secondhand gifts are okay, depending on what it is. A vintage book or a cool thrift-store find? 📚✨ Great. Used socks? 🚫 Absolutely not.

The poll also revealed another holiday confession: 6% of people admit they snoop and try to peek at their gifts before Christmas. 👀🎁 Naughty list behavior.

So if you’re eyeing that unopened gift with plans to pass it along… you’re officially in the majority. Just maybe don’t regift it back to the person who gave it to you. 😬
