Believe it or not, it’s already that time again. The Winter Olympics kick off NEXT Friday in Italy, which means we’re officially one week away from speed skating, snowboarding, and wondering how curling even works. 🥌🤷♂️
But are people actually excited? According to a new poll of more than 9,000 Americans, the answer is… not really.
Only 7% say they’ll be locked in and watching every single day. Another 17% say they’ll tune in whenever they can.
Meanwhile, 33% say they’ll casually watch “a few events,” while a solid 30% admit they’re not planning on watching ANY of it. 😬 And 12% are still undecided — probably waiting to see if something goes viral on TikTok.
👀 Who’s watching?
Men are slightly more interested than women, and older viewers are the most likely to watch daily. Gen Z says they’ll watch when they can — which basically means if it pops up on their feed while scrolling. 📱
🎉 Opening Ceremony Check
The Opening Ceremony airs next Friday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern.
• 18% will watch it live
• 12% will watch it later
• 8% will just catch clips on social media
• 44% say… nah 😴
So while the Olympics are still a huge deal, it looks like a lot of people are treating them like background noise this time around.
⛷️ Either way, get ready for slow-motion snow, dramatic music, and that one coworker who suddenly becomes an expert on luge.
