Careathon: $261,000 and still counting in radiothon for Child Cancer Fund

All proceeds benefit local pediatric cancer patients and their families

Jacksonville, Fl — The 2021 Careathon presented by Duval Asphalt raised at least $261,000 for the Child Cancer Fund of NE Florida. Donations continued to pour in after the 13+ hour broadcast on Friday, and the total number is likely to climb. Every dollar donated will benefit local pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Now in its 7th year, Careathon has raised over $1.4 million for the Child Cancer Fund of NE Florida. The nonprofit, with only one full-time staff member and a countless number of volunteers, provides financial assistance to hundreds of pediatric cancer patients each year.

A team of volunteers from CMG Jacksonville produced on-air and digital content, answered phones, and pitched in to help in all facets of the 13+ hour broadcast.

But the real stars of the day were the children and families who shared their stories of how the Child Cancer Fund has helped keep them fighting cancer. They are the reason the phones rang well past 6 pm. And they are the ones who benefit from the generosity of donors and sponsors.
