9OH-411: The Books Cellar San Marco Grand Opening, Tasty’s Wildlight Closing, & Mayport Upgrades

Jacksonville is welcoming a new place to gather, saying goodbye to a local burger spot and investing millions in one of the area’s working waterfronts during this week’s 9OH-411.

After announcing the news back in April, The Books Cellar is finally opening its doors in San Marco, giving Jacksonville a new spot that combines books, coffee and wine:

The long-awaited shop will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, Aug. 22, and plans to host book clubs as well as monthly pours and prose club nights pairing books with wine. The new concept is expected to offer readers and locals another place to gather in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, Tasty’s Burgers is closing its Wildlight location Sunday, Aug. 23, making this weekend the last chance to visit the restaurant there:

Tasty’s other locations in Yulee, Fernandina Beach and Kingsland, Georgia, will remain open. For Wildlight customers, however, the closure marks the end of the burger spot’s run at that location.

On the infrastructure front, Mayport Village is getting an $11 million modernization and storm-hardening project for its commercial docks. The upgrades will expand docking capacity and help reduce disruptions from flooding while strengthening the local seafood supply chain. Planned improvements include new mooring structures, a reinforced concrete deck, power pedestals, water service and solar lighting, creating a more resilient and efficient waterfront for captains and seafood operations.

From a brand-new neighborhood gathering spot to the closing of a familiar restaurant and a major investment in the waterfront, there’s plenty happening around Jacksonville this weekend.
