There are several notable updates around Northeast Florida this week, including changes coming to Nassau County libraries, a milestone anniversary for the Gate River Run and tickets now on sale for The Players Championship.
Nassau County Libraries Cutting Hours, Closing Branch
The Nassau County Public Library System is making changes to its operating schedule and locations.
Beginning October 1, the Fernandina Beach Library Branch will no longer be open on Saturdays. The branch’s weekday operating hours will remain unchanged.
There will also be a permanent closure coming to the Bryceville Library Branch. The branch will officially close on October 29.
Following the closure, library workers are preparing an outdoor locker system at the Bryceville location. Library users will still be able to request materials online by logging into their library accounts and placing items on hold.
Once requested materials are ready, library staff will deliver them to the outdoor lockers, and users will be notified when their items are available for pickup.
The outdoor book drop at the Bryceville location will also remain available for returning borrowed materials.
Gate River Run Reveals 50th Anniversary Logo
The Gate River Run is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone.
The annual race returns Saturday, March 6, marking the 50th anniversary of the event, which is recognized as the largest 15K road race in the United States.
The official 50th anniversary logo has now been revealed with the design appearing on this year’s race shirt and medal runners receive after completing the race.
If you’re planning to participate, mark your calendar: registration opens October 1.
Tickets Now on Sale for The Players Championship
And if you’re looking ahead to one of the biggest sporting events in the area, tickets for The Players Championship are officially on sale.
The tournament will take place March 9-14 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach.
One thing to keep in mind when purchasing tickets: The Players Championship uses dynamic ticket pricing, meaning ticket prices can change based on demand.
The tournament will also continue its complimentary youth ticket policy, allowing two children age 15 and under to attend free with a ticketed adult.
Needless to say, there’s plenty for Northeast Florida residents to put on their calendars for the month of October!
