ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla — Thousands of comic, anime, and other pop culture fans will be making their way to St. Johns County this weekend for Ancient City Con. The convention will be at the St. Johns Convention Center from September 25-27.
“We bring in celebrity guests, cosplayers, artists, comic book artists; we have a big vendor hall; we do panels, performances, shows, events. We have everything,” said Ancient City Con co-producer Max Michaels. “There’s something going on every day. We do have after-hours events with live music, bands, DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. So there’s after-hours stuff from 9 pm until 2.”
Some of the guests expected to be at the convention include Robert Duncan McNeill, Garrett Wang, and Vanessa Branch from Star Trek Voyager and Robin Curtis from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Casper Van Dien, Michael Ironside, Jake Busey, Dina Meyer, and Seth Gilliam from the 1997 sci-fi action film Starship Troopers will be at the con. Other celebrities expected to attend this weekend include Barry Bostwick from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Spin City, 9-1-1’s Gavin McHugh, Christopher Wehkamp from the anime My Hero Academia, and Bryn Apprill from Chainsaw Man.
