FL Rep. John Rutherford says he will object when Congress meets to affirm 2020 presidential election

When Congress meets on January 6th to affirm President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory, Florida Congressman John Rutherford has announced that he plans to object.

In a statement posted to Twitter, Rutherford says he will object to any electors from states where serious allegations of election fraud exist and where civil litigation remains pending.

“It is really up to the state legislatures in the six contested states to move quickly and do what they know is right,” says Rutherford.

Rutherford joins a group of House Republicans who have announced their intentions to object. Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo, has also announced intentions to object, which will likely force votes in both the House and Senate.
