Looks like this Halloween is gonna be more spooky than spendy! π»π A new poll found that nearly three out of four Americans are keeping things seriously low-budget this year, spending less than $50 total on costumes, candy, and all the Halloween fun. πΈοΈ
π§ββοΈ Hereβs the breakdown:
π° 32% said theyβre spending nothing at all β zero, zip, nada.π 22% said less than $25 total.π 19% said between $25 and $49.π¬ Only 6% are spending $100 or more this year.
That means 73% of Americans are keeping Halloween under $50β¦ which, honestly, is hard to do when even a bag of mini Snickers costs, like, a mortgage payment these days. π©
π So whatβs going on?
People are cutting back across the board, especially Boomers in the South and Midwest, and itβs not about politics or pumpkin spice preferences. Itβs the economy, baby. π¦π
Between rising prices and flat paychecks, a lot of folks are skipping costumes, candy bowls, or even the decorations this year. (Although, letβs be real, thereβs always that one neighbor who goes full haunted house with fog machines and animatronic clowns. π€‘)
π¬ Fun Fact: Only 41% of people said theyβll even be giving out candy tonight, while 45% are turning off the porch light altogether. π«π« And just 19% plan to take kids out trick-or-treating this year.
So yeah, maybe this year, Halloweenβs all about creativity on a budget. π§ββοΈ Grab a sheet for a ghost costume, buy one bag of candy, and call it a night. Or maybe everyoneβs just saving up for the real horror showβ¦ Black Friday. ποΈπ±
