Ever been in love, dumped, ghosted, had a one-night stand, or had a crush that didn’t like you back? Congrats — you’re extremely normal.
A new poll just dropped with a deep dive into America’s dating life, and the numbers show that pretty much everyone has ridden the emotional rollercoaster at least once.
So… how many of these situations have you been in? Be honest:
🫶 Been in love? 88% of Americans say yes. But only 82% have said “I love you,” and 83% have heard it.
📅 Been on a date? 88% — which means there’s still 12% of y’all out here just vibing.
😬 Been dumped? 74% of people have taken the L. (And 77% say they’ve done the dumping.)
👀 Had a one-sided crush? 70% have caught feelings for someone who didn’t return the favor.
💔 Been cheated on? 53% said yes. Only 33% admit to doing the cheating. (Sure.)
🏃♂️ Had a one-night stand? 52% — just over half of Americans have had that night.
💍 Been engaged? 62% have popped the question or said yes to it.
📦 Lived with someone romantically? Also 62%. (Sometimes those overlap, sometimes not.)
📡 Tried long-distance? 47% have attempted the travel-texts-and-trust thing.
♻️ Gotten back with an ex? 38% — some of y’all love that toxic loop.
👁️ Love at first sight? 43% said they’ve felt it.
😬 Been in an open relationship? Only 9% — but men are twice as likely to say they’re interested:20% of guys vs. 9% of women.
🚩Top 5 Reasons People Say “No Thanks” to Open Relationships:
- It just feels wrong
- Not interested
- Jealousy
- Too many emotions to manage
- Let’s be real — who has time for all that?
Bottom line? Love is messy, breakups happen, and your most chaotic relationship story is probably more relatable than you think.
Now go ahead and text your ex “just to check in.” Or maybe don’t.
