You know how your boss keeps saying, “Make sure you take time for yourself!” but then somehow it’s impossible to actually take time off? Yeah… turns out, you’re not alone.
A new report found that 23% of employees didn’t take a single vacation day this year — not one. Even though most of them had PTO to use. 😬
So what’s keeping everyone chained to their desks?
1️⃣ Workload: 43% say they have too much on their plate to justify taking time off — and 30% worry about falling behind.
2️⃣ Team culture: 29% feel guilty or pressured to “look committed,” and 1 in 4 say their manager would react badly if they asked for a full week off.
3️⃣ PTO confusion: Over a third of workers say they don’t have enough PTO for a real break. And for people with “unlimited PTO”? The lack of clear expectations actually makes it harder to take time away.
But here’s the thing — taking vacation isn’t lazy. It actually makes you a better worker. Time off improves focus, prevents burnout, and boosts morale. Plus, you come back way less likely to cry over your inbox. 😅
So if you’ve got PTO sitting there waiting… take it. The grind will still be there when you get back. ☀️✈️
