Over $50K Raised For Teen Who Worked Burger King Shift Hours After Graduating

Mykale Baker A trip to a GA Burger King’s drive-thru led to a high school graduate’s dream he never saw coming

Eighteen-year-old Mykale Baker had no time to party after graduating from Mill Creek High School in Dacula, Georgia. Just hours after walking the stage in his cap and gown, he clocked in for a shift at Burger King — still in his graduation gear.

One customer, Maria Mendoza, noticed the moment and was so moved by his hustle that she recorded a video and later started a GoFundMe to help with his college dreams. And wow… people showed UP.

The campaign quickly exploded past $50,000, all thanks to strangers who saw Mykale’s work ethic and wanted to give him a shot at something bigger.

Before the fundraiser, Mykale was planning to take a gap year to save up money for school. Now? He’s enrolling in a technical college to study a mechanical trade, something he’s passionate about.

When Mendoza returned to Burger King to tell him the good news, the emotional moment was caught on video — and we’re not saying we cried, but we’re not not saying it either.

“I never imagined something like this would happen to me,” Mykale said. “I’m so thankful.”

Talk about a whopper-sized act of kindness. 🙌
