Things got real buggy in North Carolina this week… literally.

During a Mecklenburg County Commission meeting on Tuesday, chaos broke out when someone suddenly released a swarm of bugs inside the room. Yeah — actual insects. As you’d expect, it caused a quick disruption (and probably some serious side-eyes and screams).

Security removed the individual from the building right after the release, but officials still haven’t said what kind of bugs were unleashed or why they did it. A prank? A protest? Some kind of weird flex? Nobody knows yet.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the meeting picked up again after the situation was under control. As of now, there’s no word on charges and no confirmation if dropping bugs in a government meeting is even considered illegal (though it’s definitely gross).

Only in 2025, y’all.
