Surprise! Taylor Swift is releasing her eighth studio album at MIDNIGHT Friday.
Swift made the announcement Thursday morning with a series of black and white photos leading up to the announcement of a new music video and album.
The album is called folklore and features 16 songs, plus a bonus. The biggest shock to Swifties (other than, uh, literally everything about this) is that every song features a co-writer. Swift has previously been vocal about wanting to be the only writer on her albums after previous speculation from critics that she secretly used co-writers.
The first music video from the album for a song called cardigan also releases at midnight. Swift, who clearly wastes no time, already has merchandise available that includes a folklore branded cardigan.
Swift said on Instagram that the album was written during the pandemic and her new music video was “overseen by a medical inspector, everyone wore masks, and stayed away from each other.” She said she even styled her own hair, makeup, and outfit for the cardigan video.
