Baptist Health president and CEO resigns

Brett McClung’s term will end May 1.

Jacksonville, Fl — Less than two years after taking the reins of Baptist Health, President and CEO Brett McClung announces he is resigning, effective May 1.

“This was a difficult decision that I reached after much reflection. It has been a privilege working with what I consider to be the best health care team in northeast Florida and I am proud of all we have accomplished together”, McClung said in a statement.

“Baptist Health has always been financially and reputationally strong, and I know they will continue to be this community’s health care leader.”

McClung became president and CEO in July of 2019, replacing Hugh Greene, who led the hospital system for nearly two decades.

“On behalf of the Board, we thank Brett for his service and accomplishments during his tenure as CEO. We are grateful for his leadership and we wish Brett and his family the very best”, said Richard Sisisky, chairman of the Baptist Health board of directors.

Michael Mayo will assume the responsibilities of interim president and CEO. He is currently the hospital president of Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.

The Board will conduct a search for a new president and CEO in the coming months.
