Very hot end to work week; rain/storms increase this weekend

Feels-like temps to be 100+ today.

Jacksonville, Fl — This will arguably be the hottest day of the year, so far, with feels-like temperatures 100+. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says heat will extend all the way to the beaches today.

We’ll have an isolated chance for rain and storms this afternoon, and like Thursday, where it rains it could be very heavy at times.

The weekend will feature better rain chances with coverage at/above 50% of the area. While it will be inconvenient to be dodging storms over the busy weekend, the rain is much needed.

We have just witnessed the driest “drought monitor” map for NE Fl./SE Ga. in more than a year. Buresh says we should all get at least some rain over the weekend.

The pattern turns hotter and drier to begin the new work week, with temperatures climbing to the low 90s on Monday.
