Women’s History Month Spotlight - Dr. Pauline Rolle

Duval County Health Department Director credits grandmother as influential

Jacksonville, Fl — She has been on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic for more than a year. Dr. Pauline Rolle with the Duval County Health Department says her grandmother’s influence helped to prepare her for the challenge of a global pandemic.

“One of the things she said to me when I talked about missionary work around the world, she said to me, ‘why is it everyone wants to leave the United States to do missionary work? There’s missionary work right here in your own community.’”

Rolle said that conversation impressed upon her the word community, and the impact that public health can have on a community. Rolle says public health is now her mission field, and she is proud to lead a team of professional that is serving Duval County through the multiple phases of the coronavirus.

Dr. Rolle says she wants to serve as a resource for her team, and says nurses are her strongest ally.

“I’m one of those leaders that I feel like I don’t live in a bubble. I encourage folks to ask questions”, said Rolle.
