A medical examiner’s report listed her cause of death as significant bleeding at the back of her skull. The medical examiner also found bruises covering her arms and legs and a small cut on her head, KMBC reported.

The Department of Children and Family said reports were filed twice before the girl’s disappearance — once on June 22 and once on Feb. 28.

Police were also called to the family’s home three weeks before Olivia’s death, her grandmother, Elizabeth Jansen, told KMBC.

Olivia’s body was found in a shallow grave in woods near Kansas City a few hours after her father reported her missing, KSHB reported.

An Amber Alert had been issued. Police received a tip that someone had seen a man in the woods the morning of Olivia’s disappearance. Authorities searched the area and found a trail that led them to her gravesite, KMBC reported.

Howard Jansen III and Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick have been charged with murder, KSHB reported.
