💔📱 Is This Cheating? 10 Things Couples Say Cross the Line

What’s cheating these days?

Obviously, having a full-blown affair counts. 😬

But what about flirty texts? A secret friendship? Or... putting someone’s name in your phone as something completely fake? 👀📱

A new relationship survey asked Americans what behaviors should count as cheating, and some of the answers might make you want to check your partner’s phone. 😂

🚨 The Top 10

Here are the behaviors people said cross the line:

1. 💬 Keeping an ongoing, flirtatious text conversation with someone — 41%

If you’re constantly flirting with somebody who’s not your partner, we’re starting strong. 😂

2. 🌙 Secretly talking to someone late into the night — 40%

Especially when you’re hiding those conversations from your partner.

3. 📱 Keeping a dating-app profile “just to look” — 37%

“Don’t worry, babe. I’m not actually dating anyone. I’m just browsing!” 😬

4. 🕵️ Saving someone under a fake name in your phone — 37%

This one might be the biggest red flag.

If your partner is named Jessica but you’ve got her saved as “Steve - Plumbing”... we’re going to have some questions. 😂🚩

5. 🗑️ Deleting messages so your partner can’t see them — 36%

If you’re deleting the evidence, people are apparently going to assume there was a reason. 👀

6. 🔥 Secretly staying in touch with an ex — 36%

Especially when your partner doesn’t even know you’re talking.

7. 🤫 Secretly meeting someone one-on-one — 36%

If you have to hide the meeting, that’s probably going to raise a few eyebrows.

8. 👥 Having a secret friendship your partner doesn’t know about — 34%

Apparently, “Oh, that’s just my friend!” becomes a little harder to sell when you’ve been keeping the friendship a secret. 😂

9. 💭 “Fantasy messaging” — 33%

We’re talking messages like:

“What if we were both single?” 😳

Probably not the conversation your significant other wants popping up on your phone.

10. ❤️ Sending romantic heart emojis, compliments, or inside jokes — 33%

Apparently, even those little messages can cross the line when there’s a romantic vibe behind them.

😳 And Here’s the Bigger Picture

Overall, 15% of Americans who are married or in a relationship say they’ve had romantic feelings for someone other than their partner.

That number is even higher among younger adults:

👀 Gen Z: 31%

👀 Millennials: 21%

Compared with:

👨 Men: 19%

👩 Women: 12%

📱 So... Where’s the Line?

It seems like the biggest theme here isn’t necessarily what you’re doing—it’s whether you’re doing it secretly.

Flirty texts.

Deleted messages.

Fake contact names.

Secret meetups.

Late-night conversations.

If you’re hiding it from your partner, there’s a pretty good chance you’re already entering dangerous territory. 🚩😂

And honestly...

If someone has you saved in their phone as “Steve - Plumbing,” you might want to start asking questions. 📱💀
