If watching the Olympics made you think, “Alright, I should probably start running again…” — but you also enjoy breathing and not collapsing 😅 — this one’s for you.
There’s a running method called “Jeffing.” Yes. Jeffing. J-E-F-F-I-N-G.
And before you ask… no, it’s not a TikTok dance.
🥇 Where It Came From
The term comes from former Olympian Jeff Galloway, who started using the technique with beginner runners back in 1973.
So what exactly is “Jeffing”?
It’s simple:
🏃 Run for a little while🚶 Walk for a little while🔁 Repeat
That’s it. That’s the hack.
😅 Wait… Isn’t That Just Getting Tired?
Kind of! But here’s the difference: Jeff says you should start the walk breaks before you feel totally gassed.
Instead of running until you’re miserable, try this:
⏱️ Jog for 30 seconds
🚶 Walk for 30 seconds
🔁 Keep alternating
Some beginners even start with just 10 seconds of running per minute.
The whole idea is to build stamina without wrecking yourself. It’s about pacing, consistency, and not hating every second of your workout.
💡 Why It Works
The run-walk method helps:
✔️ Build endurance
✔️ Prevent burnout
✔️ Reduce injury risk
✔️ Make running feel way less intimidating
And honestly? If you’re newer to running, this is probably how you were doing it anyway.
Now you just have a cool name for it.
So the next time someone sees you alternating between jogging and walking, just say, “Oh, I’m Jeffing.” 😌🏃♂️✨
