Fans got way more than a movie—and way less of a concert—than they expected at the Tribeca Film Festival Friday night, where Miley Cyrus premiered her new visual album Something Beautiful.
The event was meant to showcase her creative film project, followed by a Q&A session. But some fans in the audience clearly didn’t get the memo. The moment Miley took the stage, the crowd started shouting requests for her to sing, with one fan yelling, “We thought this was a concert! We paid $800!”
Another demanded, “Are you actually gonna sing?!”
To keep things from spiraling, someone asked for “The Climb”—and Miley handled it like a pro. She replied, “You have to start it,” prompting an impromptu, emotional singalong of the song right there in the theater—a cappella style.
Turns out, some fans had purchased resale tickets from third-party sites that apparently marketed the event as a live concert, not a film screening. Despite the confusion, it turned into a heartfelt moment only Miley could pull off.
So no, it wasn’t a concert—but it was definitely a moment.
