Be honestβ¦ how often are you scrolling your phone while watching TV? π
If the answer is βall the time,β youβre definitely not alone.
A new poll found that a whopping 76% of American adults say they watch TWO screens at once. π±πΊ
π Double the Screens, Double the Distraction
This βdouble-screeningβ trend can look like:
- Watching a movie while scrolling TikTok
- Streaming a show with YouTube playing in the background
- Texting while half-paying attention to literally anything
Hereβs how often people admit to doing it:
- 12% say ALWAYS
- 33% say OFTEN
- 31% say SOMETIMES
So yeahβ¦ multitasking has officially taken over. π΅βπ«
β³ Weβre Spending HOURS on Screens
Itβs not just how we use screensβ¦ itβs how long too.
- 64% of adults spend at least 5 hours a day on screens
- 10% spend more than 12 HOURS π³
(Shoutout to the gamers, phone addicts, and people whose jobs live on a computer.)
Not surprisingly, younger adults are clocking more screen time than older generations.
π΅ Could You Survive Without Your Phone?
The poll also asked people how long they could comfortably go without their phone.
And the answers say a lot:
- 8% said an hour or less π¬
- 26% said a few hours
- 17% said a full day
- 16% said a few days
- 8% said a week
- 4% said a month
- 4% said more than a month
- 6% said over a year (??? okay, sureβ¦)
That means about half of us wouldnβt last more than a day without our phones. π±π
π€― The Takeaway
Weβre living in a world where:
π One screen isnβt enough
π Five hours a day is normal
π And our phones are basically attached to us
So the next time youβre watching TV while scrolling your phoneβ¦
Just know youβre part of the 76%. ππ±πΊ
Now the real question:
Could YOU actually go a full day without your phone? π
