JACKSONVILLE, Fla — A new type of baseball experience is coming to the Bold City next year. Boom Ball will be coming to VyStar Ballpark on May 8 for the 2027 Boom Ball Babe Ruth Hologram Tour.
According to their website, Boom Ball is a six-inning, two-hour match with different events happening in each inning. For example, the first inning “introduces the core principle of Boom Ball: fast-paced, nonstop action. Pitchers pitch to their own team, there are no balls or strikes, and each half-inning is played against a five-minute clock.” The second inning introduces a fifth base, or “Boom Base,” 30 feet outside the baseline between third and home plate that could make one run worth two.

This year, fans will be able to watch a recreation of Babe Ruth’s legendary “called shot” from the 1932 World Series. “Boom Ball is about creating unforgettable moments for kids and families, and we’re excited to combine the magic of baseball history with the energy, entertainment, and shared experiences that bring people together at our events,” said Lauren King, Vice President of Marketing at Boom Ball. “The Boom Ball Babe Ruth Hologram Tour allows fans to connect with one of the game’s most iconic figures in a way that’s immersive, memorable, and unlike anything they’ve experienced before.”

Festivities will take place before first pitch, including player autographs, interactive games, and dance competitions. Fans can watch a fireworks and light show after the game.
