Hurricane Michael: How to volunteer and donate to Florida's Disaster Fund

Jacksonville, FL — With Hurricane Michael anticipated to be one of the worst storms to hit Florida's Panhandle since at least 2004, the state is coordinating volunteers and donations to help before, during, and after the storm.

Governor Rick Scott's office says Volunteer Florida will be the state's lead agency on this task, with established resources for individuals and groups who want to support relief and recovery efforts.

If you interested in volunteering or just donating, you can visit VolunteerFlorida.org.

If you're one of those interested in volunteering, specifically, you can than register for the volunteer database on that site, which includes things like your name, skills and experiences, and more.

Once you register, disaster response organizations, like the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army, can reach out to qualified volunteers, depending on needs.
